Our app uses the microphone to record audio files.

- Internal device storage

Access to your device's internal storage is required to save and replay audio files. Additionally, the app automatically manages these recorded files by deleting the oldest files based on your specified auto-delete settings.

- Billing Services

Defense Recorder is free to use but does offer paid subscription premium services. For premium subscriptions, we need access to your smartphone's built-in subscription services strictly for billing purposes, ensuring a seamless and secure payment process.

 

Access to Your Recordings

As a testament to our unwavering commitment to user privacy, we want to assure you that we do not have access to your recordings. Defense Recorder is intentionally designed to be unable to remotely access your recordings. You retain complete control and responsibility for the use of your recordings.

 

Emails and Notifications

Should you self elect to enroll in our mailing list, you have full control over email alerts by selecting the “opt-out” option at the bottom of any email we send. We do not use your email address for promotional or financial gain. Only to provide important information concerning the usability of our app.

 

Data Collection and Sharing

Our app does not collect any personally identifiable information from you, and we do not share information with third parties. Your privacy is our top priority.

 

How does Defense Recorder pay the bills

Defense Recorder operates on a freemium model, with the majority of our revenue generated through paid monthly subscriptions. We do not collect data from free users, but we supplement our income with minimal, non-intrusive ads displayed through Google within the app. These ads do not track individual users or target them based on personal information.

Defense Recorder is privately funded and 100% privately owned. We are committed to remaining independent and will never accept funding that compromises our commitment to user privacy and ethical practices. Our goal is to be financially self-sufficient, similar to any other for-profit company, but without resorting to exploitative data practices. We believe in providing peace of mind and practical tools for personal legal defense and protection, not in monetizing user data. • The effectiveness of the audio files recorded, are directly correlated to how vocal you are when something happens that you save the audio of. 

• The app records events as they happen. Be mindful that you should consult an attorney to assist in the choice to utilize this recorded content in a court of law.
